Revamp Your Office Space

Now that February is coming to a close, it will soon be that most dreaded time of year – spring cleaning season! With that in mind, it’s probably the best time to liven things up a bit in your home office space. A bit of a change in scenery can be just the thing to revitalise your enthusiasm and motivation for work.

And believe it or not, bringing a revamp to your office doesn’t have to cost the earth – if you keep the same desk and chair it shouldn’t cost much at all! Here are a handful of cheap and easy tips to breathe new life into your working space.

1 – Poster Up

First of all, you need to personalise your office space if you really want it to feel like it’s yours, so you have to go out and buy some posters and prints. The next thing to do is frame them – this makes them look more striking, yet more professional at the same time.

You don’t need to go overboard and spend a fortune on frames – a simple black one from somewhere like Ikea will do just fine.

If you want your prints to be really personalised, you could always blow up one of your own photos to poster size!

2 – Clear the Desk

All that paper cluttering up your all-important desk space is simply not going to help your productivity at all. Gather up all those forms, business cards, tickets, shopping lists and receipts, invest in a corkboard and pin them all to the wall!
Not only does this keep them out of your way and give you your desk space back again, but it actually helps your organisation too – if you arrange your papers by category, you can quickly and easily find whatever you’re looking for.

3 – Turn on the Lights!

Any office should have a minimum of three distinct points of light: natural light, an overhead one, and a desk lamp. This is the best layout for your eyes, but it also makes your office space more comfortable to work in.

If you don’t have a desk lamp, forget about the corporate looking metallic ones with no soul – have a look in the living room section of a furniture store and pick out something quirky or homely.

4 – Add a Touch of Colour

This is probably the cheapest and easiest way to make the office space feel more you. Add a few drops of colour by buying some colourful desk accessories, like staplers, pens and hole punches – the brighter the better!

Try and make sure they complement each other – you don’t want the whole rainbow in front of you, but a few nice colours and go a long way into making your room bright and optimistic.
